I was having a hard time composing my photo until this bird landed on this rock. I just don’t know what this bird is…Blue Heron? Anyway, it was interesting to see this bird checking out the fishes like it was selecting it’s next meal…I do think these Koi’s are way too big for it.

I also have these birds in my neighborhood and they skidaddled if you just look at them, very skiddish.

This one just stayed put and posed…must be used to all the visitors taking photos. LOL!

You’re correct Reymon, its a Great Blue Heron. I usually see them at a pond near my home, but they have been scarce this year. I’m surprised you got so close, they are very frightful. Great pictures nonetheless!!

Thanks for the confirmation John! Surprisingly, I was less than 10 feet away from this bird and it just stood still on the rock. It didn’t even bother to look at me. I think the Koi’s were more energetic that day.
