About Me

image

Welcome to my photography page! My name is Reymon de Real and I am a licensed Physical Therapist who also happens to be a photography enthusiast. My interest in photography started back in 2005 with a Samsung point-and-shoot camera and in 2008, I also started using my iPhone as it was readily available being on my pocket at all times. I would post my work on my social network page for friends to see and my photos surprisingly received a lot of positive feedback. I decided to invest on a DSLR camera (Canon Rebel Xsi) in 2010 and recently upgraded to a Canon Rebel T6s. I do not have any formal training in photography and I continue to  explore the capabilities of my camera. All my photos are captured based on gut feel and every photo session is a learning opportunity for me. In 2011, I submitted one of my photos to the Electric Avenue Downtown Miami Photo Contest following encouragement by a few friends and to my amazement, the jury composed of Miami based photographers awarded my photo the grand prize. Winning that competition was a turning point for my passion in photography.

I also love to travel and I go crazy with my camera during my trips. I adore the works of Peter Lik and would like to eventually focus on panoramic landscape photography. Recently, I joined Peter Lik’s Instagram #thisishome Photo Contest and he selected my photo as one of the three winners and gave me an autographed copy of his book “Las Vegas”.  A few of my photos have also been featured on the Travel Section of the Florida Sun Sentinel.

Prize from Peter Lik’s Photo Contest.

Following encouragement by family and friends, I took a bigger step by creating this page to share my photos with the rest of the world. I am not much of a writer but I’ll try to add as much narrative as I can on my posts. All the photographs on this webpage are my exclusive property and cannot be used for any purpose without my explicit written permission. Enjoy my photos and I would greatly appreciate it if you leave a few words of encouragement, tips and suggestions. Thank you!

  4. I like your story how you took the leap into photography. I think it is cool that untrained people can do just as well as the trained professional. I feel photography is mostly how a scene speaks to the individual and the ability to capture it on camera.
Thank you for liking my post ” The Day My Camera Died” on OUR RETIRED LIFE.
    Have a nice day!:)

  6. You have a good eye Reymon. I can see why your submission to that photo contest won the grand prize.

If I may, I’d recommend “Visual Flow” by Ian Plant (one of my favorite landscape photographers. It is the best and most comprehensive treatise on composition I’ve come across so far. It is covered in a way that you can apply to just about any photography genre. You can find it here:

Disclaimer: I am not associated with Ian Plant in any way; I just happen to like his work.

    • Thank you! I greatly appreciate your taking time to write these wonderful and inspiring words and I am happy to show you the world through my photographs. I have just discovered the joys of travelling and I’m making up for all those years wasting my money on unnecessary things. Now I invest on experiences (like travelling) as it keeps me more open minded and tolerant of our differences and makes me appreciate more on the uniqueness of this planet we call home.

  12. Hi Reymon,
Wow! Did you launch yourself into fun hobby. Of course, adding gear is part of the fun of it. Then there is the engagement and beauty of what you are seeing as landscapes unfold in front of you. Since you love landscape photography, I spent a week on Martha’s Vineyard in a landscape photography workshop with an unbelievable landscape photographer, Allison Shaw. What an eye she has. Might want to Google her.
Thank you for following my photography blog: http://throughharoldslens.com. I hope you enjoy your journey.

  13. Beautiful work, Ramon. I like the way you’ve approached photography, allowing your own instincts to guide you, rather than formal training. I’ve approached all my creative work from music to painting to photography that way. Always follow your gut, man. Looking forward to seeing more of your work.

    • Thank you for your nice words. I wasn’t born into an artistic family so stuff like these were never encouraged. So whenever total strangers like you appreciate my work, I get that boost to keep going and doing it better. I guess what people say about always following your instincts is right. It brought me across the other side of the globe and made me discover a creative side in me that I never knew existed. Again, thank you and hope you visit again soon.
